Aman Miami Will Bring Faena District to Full Potential

December 6, 2019
Aman Miami will be located at the Versaille Hotel on 3425 Collins Avenue

What do Jackson Hole in Wyoming, Motihang in Bhutan, and Miami all have in common? These are some of the select few locations across the world where Aman is redefining hospitality and luxury.

Set to open in 2023, Aman Miami will be located in the prestigious Faena District of Miami Beach, a 1 million square foot mixed-use area featuring entertainment, shopping, restaurants, and the Forum: an arts venue. Already one of Miami’s most beloved neighborhoods, Mayor Dan Gelber matches the rest of the city’s enthusiasm when he says “Aman will allow the Faena District to fulfill its potential.”

Faena District is one of Miami Beach’s top neighborhoods

The project is being backed by billionaires Len Blavatnik and Vlad Doronin. Blavatnik’s Access Industries backed developer Alan Faena in the formation of the Faena District, and is pairing with Doronin’s OKO Group to build two towers on the site of the former Versailles Hotel at 3425 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach.  Doronin is also the chairman and CEO of Aman, which is based in Singapore.

Aman is known for its serene, off-the-beaten-path destinations – 11 of its resorts are in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. With the success of Aman Tokyo, the company has proven that they can integrate these qualities seamlessly into the urban environment. According to Doronin, “The Miami and Aman lifestyles are highly compatible. Both are energetic, easy-going and embrace the outdoors.”

Most Aman locations are remote, such as this mountaintop resort in Bhutan

Alongside Aman New York, their Miami project will be their first to offer private residences. Residents will have access to every 5-star amenity the hotel has to offer, including a 25,000 square foot spa with a 67-foot indoor pool, a wine library, a jazz club, cigar lounge, and exclusive on-site restaurant.

The construction of Aman coincides with the growing exodus of high-net worth individuals from New York and the Northeast to Miami. As Vlad Doronin says, “It takes the same amount of time to fly to Miami as it does to drive to the Hamptons from New York City.” Aman coincides with, and represents, a dramatic change of the city’s commercial landscape, as private wealth gives way to more health care tech and international business.

In addition to Aman, Doronin and the OKO Group are also developing Missoni Baia, slated to be the next luxury tower in the Edgewater neighborhood. They are also orchestrating two projects in the financial district of Brickell: Una, a luxury waterfront tower, and 830 Brickell, an office tower anchored by WeWork.
